I have to wonder why the hell do people try to jump out of cars sliding at less than 10 mph? their safest place is inside the car, not on the street where another sliding car may run them over.

The drivers in the snow aren't stupid. It's really hard to drive in snow THAT thick and icy and slippery. Thus, there were a bunch of crashes like that. Now the two drivers that bailed out…..they are stupid.
